Jul. 4th, 2007 05:41 pm ATCs I made a while back for a swap-bot textured ATC swap.

Gold medal Glads ATCThe Gold Glads ATC is on a background I made from fruit netting, adhered with gesso and then painted gold - I read about someone doing this on a blog and was inspired, will try to find link.

The CREATE ATC didn't photograph very well, but it looked much better in reality. I used fibres and seed beads and glitter!

Create ATC

I tried out a new technique on this shell ATC, glitter glue covered with seed beads and then a little superfine glitter - I love the effect.

I printed the cherub picture on printable adhesive cotton paper' from www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk , Lots of glitter on this one too!

Jul. 4th, 2007 03:00 pm Independence day Cupcakes

Independence day Cupcakes, originally uploaded by TheRehn.

We had these Cupcakes on U.S. Independence day.
My aunt sent me the American flag decorations and flag patterned cupcake liners which inspired me (a brit) to make cupcakes for U.S. Independence day!!

Made these cupcakes with an Angel food Cupcake recipe from www.cupcakerecipes.com/angelfoodrecipe.htm (I halved the quantities!). Topped with butter-cream and blueberries/ strawberries to try to make it look like the Star-spangled banner!

hint: Put the Strawberries on in a line first and THEN the icing on either side, otherwise the canned Strawberries fall off the cupcakes:(.

P.S. Yes I know I am one cupcake short - I can't calculate right!

Apr. 10th, 2007 12:35 pm Easter Baking

easter monday tea, originally uploaded by TheRehn.

I baked lots of goodies for Easter,

  • the traditional Easter Biscuits (apparently they originate from my part of the UK!),
  • Easter nests (rice krispies in a mini muffin pan, things look cuter when they are mini!!) and mini brownies with mini eggs on the top!
  • Easter egg shaped cookies, we used a squashed tin can to cut them out!!! (chocolate roll out cookie recipe - http://www.be-ro.com/f_insp.htm).
  • A bought cake that I decorated (a bit in a rush!!!) with green coconut, chicks (from paperchase), gummy eggs, and homemade mini eggs!!!!

Also thanks to Tescos we had some pretty easter napkins and easter crackers!!!!!!

Feb. 18th, 2007 01:29 am I've been trying out some of the suggestions in a book called Everyday Spiritual Practice

I have tried a gratitude journal, but found it a bit difficult to keep up with, so am trying to intergrate gratitude into other things. I think next I am going to try making some mediatation/prayer beads. Everyday Spiritual Practice

Feb. 18th, 2007 01:16 am I've started a writing in a notebook the things I have done each day.

Even things like I got up today when I didn’t feel like it, made a cake etc also if I do anything to meet any of my other goals, like go for a walk everyday, if I go for a walk I write it down, It might be small, but it’s a good thing.

I did quite a bit on my altered book (The Ballet shoes) at the beginning of last year, then I stalled and haven’t looked at it since, perhaps it is the time to get it out again???

Feb. 5th, 2007 01:54 am Wonderful, twisty, turny novel. (rated 5 stars)

by Jennifer Donnelly

This book is about a young cockney ‘lass’ who lives in Whitechapel in London at the turn of the century. She has a sweetheart and a wonderful loving family, but circumstances are against her and to save her live she must run away to America. Thrilling and romantic, this book cherishes family, friendship, love, justice, womens liberation and opens a window into this period of history.

Feb. 5th, 2007 01:34 am I want to record my achievements specifically in craft, art and cooking.

I want to record what I do/ have done e.g take pictures of my craft projects and write about them. To record the bad crafts as well as the good. To record the art work I make, even if i don’t keep it. To take pictures of food I have baked.

The aim of this is to show myself what I have achieved.
